Ignacio Zaragoza, Loreto, Baja California Sur
This historic estate is located in the Colonia Zaragoza neighborhood of Loreto, Baja California Sur. Situated directly on the sandy beach with 200+ feet of direct oceanfront, plus the federal zone.
Once known as the Flying Sportsman Lodge, the estate has been meticulously restored utilizing only the finest materials, equipment and craftsmanship. The comprehensive restoration process took over 11 years to complete and no expense was spared in creating this luxurious oceanfront estate.
Residents and visitors enter the vast estate through a large stone entryway. A security wall surrounds the property offering security and privacy. As you pass through the entryway, a palm tree-lined cobblestone driveway extends eastward towards the Sea of Cortez to the edge of the property.
Just past the entrance is a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home. The longtime caretaker of the Estate, currently resides in this home. Adjacent to the caretaker’s home is a palapa carport with sufficient space to park three vehicles.
Beyond the caretaker’s home, the cobblestone driveway continues eastward towards the main home and guest bungalows. Alongside the long driveway is a garden area with mature fruit trees. At the end of the long driveway is another palapa with enough room to park three vehicles. This parking area is primarily used for the residents of the main house.
The high-quality craftsmanship and attention to detail are evident throughout the estate. The main home and guest suites all feature handmade custom doors with unique engraved artwork. All of the custom doors, cabinets, and woodwork are made from naturally termite resistant mahogany.
The main home has a wrap-around covered veranda with a wide walkway. There is also an outdoor BBQ, kitchen, and dining area with spectacular ocean views. The comfortable living room of the main home has a large fireplace and sweeping views of the Sea of Cortez. The kitchen has a spacious open floor plan and is outfitted with custom hand made mahogany cabinets. Both bedrooms of the main home have ensuite bathrooms with marble tile finishes and expansive views of the Sea of Cortez. One of the master bedrooms also has an extra storage room for fishing rods, extra supplies, etc.
The guest bungalows are located behind the main home and have been designed to maximize privacy and comfort. Each of the three guest bedrooms has tiled ensuite bathrooms, custom engraved mahogany doors, built-in closets, individual air conditioner units with thermostat control, and individual water heaters.
A large utility room is located at the end of the guest bungalow building. The utility room includes washer/dryer, large freezer, extra refrigerator, two ice makers (capable of making 800 lbs of ice per day), and a large cooler with sufficient space for 14 cases of beer/soda.
At the eastern edge of the estate, a few feet away from the sandy beach, is a large two-story beach tower crafted from the same stonework that is found throughout the property. The views of the Sea of Cortez from the second floor are breathtaking. This is a perfect spot for quiet contemplation, morning coffee, or for entertaining guests.
Adjacent to the main home is a very large heated spa with a palapa roof and custom stonework. The estate also has a large, fully enclosed, secured garage that has been divided up into several bays with ample room for storage. Two bays are included with the sale of the estate. Within the garage is a custom-built water storage double filtration system. The system holds 4,000 gallons of back up water. The estate also has a 1,000-gallon propane tank and a custom electrical power transformer.
